What is the Lancashire Criminal Justice Board (LCJB)?
The LCJB consists of chief officers from all the criminal justice agencies in Lancashire - the Police, Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Courts, Probation and Prison services and Lancashire Youth Offending Team (LYOT). Victim Support Lancashire and the Legal Services Commission are also members of the Board.
Together they are responsible for improving the delivery of justice and increasing public confidence.
The focus is on:
- Increasing the number of offences brought to justice, especially serious offences
- Early intervention and prevention of re-offending, focusing on alcohol-related crime
- Dealing efficiently and effectively with young offenders, particularly persistent offenders
- Improving the support and care provided to victims and witnesses
- Addressing race disproportionality at identified key points in the criminal justice system
- Increasing the number of trials that go ahead on the day they should and speeding up the court process
- Enforcing warrants, community penalties, licences and financial impositions, and
- Reducing the harm caused by crime by increasing the quantity of criminal assets seized
